On NDF the Tamer you pick at creation is only the look. Skills come from your role , and the Role Tree stats apply to any Digimon you use.
In the quest The Man on the Bench Ren Hayase gives you the Role Ticket .
Talk to Ren and trade the ticket for the role box you want.
Open the box: you become that role and get the full set (11 character-bound pieces: clothes, ornament, cape, shoes, ring, necklace, earring, bracelet and Digivice, with fixed stats) and a Role Certificate .
